An Orem man, whose wife and son were killed in a head-on traffic accident last week, died Friday from injuries suffered in the same collision.
Brett Hansen, 20, died in LDS Hospital, a nursing supervisor said. His wife, Michele C. Hansen, 18, and son, Dustin Hansen, 6 months, were killed in the March 17 accident that authorities believe was caused by a stray deer.Hansen was driving southbound on U.S.-89 about three miles south of Mt. Pleasant when he saw a deer on the highway and locked his brakes, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Terry Smith. He apparently lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a car driven by Richard Wertz, 39, Alamosa, Colo.
Wertz and passenger Judith Kawanabe, 8, were released from area hospitals this past week. His wife, Anna Marie Wertz, 43, was released from LDS Hospital Saturday.
