Thirteen people, including 10 members of the Utah State University track team, were injured Friday when a car and a 13-passenger van collided on I-15 near the California-Nevada state line, authorities said.

A spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred about 10:15 a.m. between Stateline, Nev., and Yates Wells Road in California. The 13-passenger van was carrying a track team from USU at Logan, Utah. The team was on its way to Santa Barbara, Calif., to compete in its first outdoor meet of the season.

Utah State spokesman Craig Hislop said 10 track team members suffered minor injuries and were taken to two Las Vegas area hospitals.

A spokeswoman for University Medical Center in Las Vegas said all those brought in for treatment were expected to be released.

An auto in the northbound lanes swerved to miss a road crew, traveled through the highway median and "smashed broadside into our van on the driver's side," Hislop said. "The van rolled twice and then a semitrailer truck right behind went right between the van and the car."
