A car driven by an elderly man smashed through a glass window in a crowded supermarket Saturday afternoon, injuring at least 12 people before it came to a halt at a cash register counter, authorities said.
At least three cashiers at the Pathmark store were hurt, including a woman who suffered back and internal injuries when she was hit by the car and flying glass and brick, said West Orange Police Chief Edward M. Palardy."It was an 80-year-old driver who apparently lost control," Palardy said. "We haven't discovered whether the accelerator got stuck or he had a coronary (heart attack)."
