Indian peacekeeping forces have killed more than 300 Tamil civilians in a northern district, the most powerful and biggest Tamil rebel group said Friday. India dismissed the charge as propaganda.

In New Delhi, the leader of the Tamils' semiautonomous government warned there will be a bloodbath unless authorities in Colombo give his officials more power.An Indian High Commission official in Sri Lanka said the rebel charges were their "usual propaganda." He said 76 militants and 26 soldiers have been killed in operations this month in northern Mullaitivu district.
