Alpine School District PTA representatives have chosen this year's winners in the annual Reflections art contest.
Thirty students from throughout the district have been selected to advance to the state level, and those who win that competition in Salt Lake City will participate in the national program.Several hundred students participated in the Alpine competition. In addition to the winners, 31 youngsters were awarded honorable mentions in music, literature, art and photography.
Region PTA Associate Director Annette Armstrong said the program is designed to encourage self-expression and participation in the arts.
"All of the students who entered are winners, because they created something and participated with other students in an arts experience" she said. "Not only has their arts appreciation been heightened, but hopefully their self-esteem as well."
All of the winners were honored by the PTA this week during a program at American Fork Junior High School.
