A Salt Lake woman was assaulted in her home early Saturday by a burglar who entered the house by breaking a window.

The woman, 67, was asleep in her home in the Second East block of Edith Avenue (1195 South) about 12:15 a.m. when she heard noises in her front room, according to a police report.She arose and confronted the intruder, who threw her into a table, cutting her ear. The burglar held her head in an arm lock and demanded to see her purse.

The victim said the burglar was in the home for about 20 minutes before leaving empty-handed.
