The state has agreed to help finance a secondary irrigation system in Kaysville that is to be the initial phase of a system that will serve eight area communities.

The Board of Water Resources in August authorized $38.7 million for the multi-phase project, which is being sponsored by the Davis and Weber Counties Canal Co. The board has promised as much as $6 million toward the $8 million initial phase planned for construction in Kaysville.The canal company will purchase the Kaysville segment of the project from the board over 35 years.
