An associate of Oakland Athletics slugger Jose Canseco allegedly had steroids when arrested on a concealed weapons charge while trying to board a plane with Canseco, records show.

David Valdes, a Canseco employee, was arrested Jan. 21 at Detroit Metropolitan Airport for allegedly possessing a loaded handgun as he and Canseco left Michigan. Valdes denied that 26 tablets found in his briefcase were steroids, instead calling them perscription pills.
