Graveside services for veteran radio and television broadcaster G. Bennett Larson will be Thursday at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Larson died of pneumonia March 18 in Santa Monica, Calif. He was 79.

Larson began his broadcasting career, which spanned more than 50 years, as a teenager in 1926, working as an announcer for KDYL radio in Salt Lake.He later became a radio producer in New York City for such programs as the Rudy Vallee show. Larson also worked with early radio and television stars Milton Berle, Al Jolson, Martha Raye and Kate Smith. In 1952, he returned to Utah and purchased KDYL AND KTVT-TV.

Larson moved to the Los Angeles area in the 1970s to run a consulting business until he retired in 1980.
