The Mormon Tabernacle Choir presented patriotic and American folk tunes during a series of four half-hour long pop concerts at Disney World this past weekend.
The choir interspersed a number of songs from well-loved Disney films and were joined by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, Uncle Remus characters, Chip 'n' Dale, Snow White and dozens of other costumed characters, delighting about 9,000 listeners and passers-by.Videotaped excerpts from the concerts will be used in several Disney television releases later this year, including the Walt Disney World Easter Parade from the Magic Kingdom that is scheduled to air on the ABC television network March 26.
Other segments will be used on the Children's Miracle Network Telethon in June and on Disney syndicated Fourth of July and Christmas parade programs.
The choir broadcast its "Music and the Spoken Word" program from the Epcot Center theater on Sunday morning. The program was beamed to subscribing stations via satellite. The choir will remain in Florida through Tuesday when it is scheduled for a concert in Orlando in connection with the annual convention of the American Society of Neuro-Radiologists.
