Diann Roffe continued her steady comeback, overtaking Tamara McKinney on the second run to win the women's giant slalom by 25-hundredths of a second Friday at the U.S. Alpine Ski Championships.

Roffe, gold medalist in giant slalom at the 1985 World Championships but dogged by injury and poor results for most of the next three seasons, made up a deficit of nearly a half second after the first run to claim her first national title.McKinney wound up second and Kristi Terzian of Salt Lake City was third.
