About 40 Utah square dancers will head for Memphis Wednesday for a four-day training session they hope will help make the 1991 National Square Dance Convention in Salt Lake a roaring success.

The Utah dancers, officers of the governing board that is organizing the 40th annual session of the square dance convention, will join similar groups from Oklahoma City, Memphis and Cincinnati. Those cities will be hosting the national convention in 1989, 1990, and 1992 respectively.Discussions will focus on eliminating problems dealing with housing, feeding and providing dancing facilities for the 30,000 dancers who are expected to attend the convention, expected to be the largest in Salt Lake's history. It is estimated that participants will pump nearly $6 million into the local economy during the three-day event.
