Fire investigators have determined burglars ransacked and then set fire to a house.
West Valley City Fire Marshall John Blundell said the house, 3777 W. 41st South, suffered $40,000 in damage.Investigators believe the blaze was set to cover up a burglary "because not all the property in the place had been destroyed and everything had been ransacked and gone through before the fire," Blundell said.
A couple and their two children renting the home were not home at the time of the 3:22 p.m. Friday fire, which investigators said began in the living room on the main floor.
The 10 firefighters put the blazeout in about 15 minutes. The fire caused heavy smoke damage
