BYU wrestler Mark Willis, competing in the 190-pound class, is the only remaining Cougar in the NCAA Wrestling Championships after he beat David Benes of Ohio 7-5 Thursday night in the consolation bracket. Earlier Thursday, Willis lost to Charlie Buckshaw of Tennessee Chattanooga, 11-5, in the second round of the NCAA Wrestling Championships.

Cougars Robbie Winter at 142, Chris Humpherys at 150 and Jon Kohls at 167 each won their preliminary match before losing in the first round.
