Theron "Jim" Gerrard, former general manager of the Utah State Fair, died March 15, 1989, at home after a long illness. He was 77.

Mr. Gerrard was general manager of the fair from December 1963 to March 1966.He was retired from Karman Kitchen Co., a manufacturer of hardwood kitchen cabinets.

In August 1960, Mr. Gerrard joined with a business associate to form Kramer-America Corp., an import company dealing in German-made farm machinery. He was also self-employed as a real estate and insurance agent. In addition, he was employed as a salesman and manager at several auto dealerships.

He graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. March 20 in the Wilford Ward chapel, 3179 Highland Drive. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State, from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, and Monday in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
