Volunteers will work alongside Utah Department of Transportation road crews in May to pick up litter along the state's highways during what is being billed as, "The First Annual Trash Roundup."
May 19 and 20 have been designated as the days when organizations participating in UDOT's "Adopt-A-Highway" program will assist in cleaning up the state's right-of-ways.Organizations in the program agree to provide litter control for a minimum two-mile section of a state highway at least three times a year for at least two years.
UDOT provides safety training, vests and trash bags. The state agency also posts a sign at the site of an organization's first drive to credit them for their work.
Organizations interested in being a part of the "Adopt-A-Highway" program must join before May 1 in order to participate in the roundup. Call 965-4388 for more information.
