Girl Scouts will deliver thousand of food items to Utah emergency pantries Saturday as the Utah Girl Scout Council's annual "Can-Do" food drive ends.

This is the seventh year the council has worked with Utahns Against Hunger to coordinate the project. In 1988, Girl Scouts donated about 8,000 food items. Drive organizers Helen Harvey and Jean Fikkan said this year's goal is to double the number. The drive is conducted as part of Girl Scout Week (March 12-18), and helps food banks cope with diminished food supplies.
