A. Barclay Gardner, a former top aide to Gov. Norm Bangerter who retired last year, has been rehired to manage office affairs for the state Department of Community and Economic Development, officials said.
Gardner will help write and administer department budgets, work with the Legislature and help with department evaluations and incentive programs. His official title will be chief administrative officer, a title that previous did not exist in the department.Gardner retired last fall after serving as Bangerter's executive assistant. He previously served as executive director of the Department of Administrative Services and as administrator of the Utah Department of Employment Security.
