The Salt Lake City Council voted Thursday to accept an agreement with Broadway Centre Limited that may result in razing the Centre Theatre as early as next week.

The first phase will be demolition of the historic theater. "It should be ready to go next week."Construction on the foundation of a 13-story office building where the theater is now located may begin shortly after demolition.

The building will contain six-theater complex, restaurant and retail space on the plaza level, basement and penthouse storage space and office space.
