A transient whose body was found floating Tuesday in the Jordan River has been identified as Randall Louis Fitch, 30.

Fitch was identified through fingerprints, said Salt Lake police Sgt. Chuck Cockayne.A railroad engineer spotted Fitch's body in the river between North Temple and South Temple Tuesday morning. An autopsy determined Fitch had been in the water at least a week. It is unknown whether he died of a beating or of drowning.

Police have no suspects or motive. Detectives said Fitch was known to travel a lot between Arizona, Texas, Florida and Utah.
