Marie Cornwall, assistant professor of sociology at Brigham Young Uniersity, has been appointed director of the Women's Research Institute.

She replaces Mary Stovall. The institute, included in the college of family, home and social sciences, studies the roles of women in society. Cornwall will be responsible for promoting and encouraging research on the experiences of women in all areas of life.Cornwall received a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah, a master's in sociology from BYU and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Minnesota.
