Special events are planned at Fremont Indian State Park in central Utah this month to celebrate the arrival of spring and the Easter holiday weekend.

The spring equinox will be observed March 20 with a tour of markings throughout the park that are believed to be calendar symbols marking the vernal and autumnal equinoxes.Participants in the tour should meet at the visitors center at 6 a.m. for hot chocolate and donuts before being led to selected sites to photograph the sunrise and the rock symbols.

On March 25, the traditional Easter picnic in the park will be held in conjunction with an Easter egg hunt. On Easter Sunday, March 26, the First Baptist Church of Richfield will hold its third annual Easter Sunrise Service.

The 7 a.m. service will be held in the parking lot of the visitors center and will focus on the traditional Easter message and include the singing of Easter hymns.

Fremont Indian State Park is located 24 miles southwest of Richfield off I-70 in central Utah. For additional information, call the park at 527-4631.
