University of Utah seniors in accounting studies are going to put their training to work, helping low-income people prepare their 1988 income tax returns.

The students will be participating in the government-sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, at the Salt Lake City Northwest Multi-Purpose Center, providing free tax service for the poor.About 30 student participants - accounting majors and members of the university chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting honorary society - will be involved in the program, said chapter spokeswoman Colleen Conley.

The student-assisted tax service operates Monday and Wednesday nights at the center, said Conley.
