It's been five seasons and two teams since Dave Parker played for Pittsburgh, but the Pirates say the outfielder should forfeit $5.3 million in deferred payments because an alleged long-term cocaine addiction impaired his performance and embarrassed the team.

A breach-of-contract suit alleges the 36-year-old Parker, currently a member of the Oakland Athletics, was reduced from a premier outfielder to an overweight, injury-prone player who "already has been generously overpaid for the drug-impaired performance" under his 1979 contract with the Pirates. The accusations were denied by Louis Willenken, a New York attorney representing Parker.
