Disneyland is every child's dream, and a handicap doesn't change that.
Handicapped students at Canyon View School in Ogden are hoping Utahns will help make the Disneyland dream a reality for them. They are seeking donations through the Weber School District Foundation, 112 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT 84404. The Canyon View telephone number is 621-1123.The objective is to raise $7,000 to take the children by air to the California resort.
The 25 students, all severely multiply handicapped, have spent three years talking about Disneyland and learning the skills that would make such a trip possible for them. In some cases, such skills are extremely hard-won.
Their teacher, Ron Ewing, is working hard to see that the students realize the reward for the efforts they have made. He is soliciting local groups and businesses, including the airlines, to find help anywhere it is available.
The school has had a family portrait fund-raiser and also received money from the annual Christmas tree display at Ogden Union Station, but they are still short of the goal.
Individual students can be sponsored for $250.
