Linda Petursdottir, the reigning Miss World, would like to clear up a few misconceptions about her country, Iceland.

"So many people think it's freezing cold and we live in igloos with no electricity," 19-year-old blue-eyed blonde said during a visit to New York. "But really, it's maybe a little colder than here and it gets as high as 70 in the summer."While in New York, Petursdottir was picking up some Louis Vuitton luggage, which isn't available in Vopnafjordur, the fishing village of about 1,000 where she grew up.

The language student is spending this year traveling the world raising money for children's charities.
