If Salt Lake County Recorder Katie Dixon wants to travel to West Germany this month, she apparently will have to pay for it herself.

County commissioners withdrew her request for $675 in expenses from Wednesday's agenda. Commissioner Dave Watson said it would be inappropriate for taxpayers to fund such a trip, even though Dixon had offered to pay her own air fare to the convention of the Institute for Land Information, of which she is president. Watson said he sees no benefit to the county from such a trip.Dixon, who traveled more at taxpayer expense than any county elected official last year, was unavailable for comment. Officials said she was attending another convention in Eugene, Ore.
