A Salt Lake man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his wife last Friday.

James Frederick Finsley, 45, admitted to police detective John Foster that he hit Patricia Joan Finsley, 40, in the head during a fight at their home, 1461 S. West Temple, according to a criminal complaint filed in 3rd Circuit Court.Mrs. Finsley's body was found at the bottom of the stairs with a head wound. An autopsy determined she died of "blunt-force trauma to the head," the complaint states.

Finsley was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, where he remained Thursday pending a court appearance. Bail has been set at $25,000.
