Matt Holland, son of Jeffrey R. and Pat Holland, seems a little perplexed by spring's sudden appearance in the form of more than 100 paper tulips on the family's front lawn. The tulips bloomed suspiciously overnight Wednesday in the yard of Brigham Young University's president - and the "elves" who made the flowers appear probably are members of that university's student body. The high temperature Thursday in Provo was 77 degrees, breaking a record of 72 set on March 9, 1972. It was 76 degrees Thursday at Salt Lake International Airport, breaking a record of 75 for that day, also set in 1972. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-70s Friday along the Wasatch Front but will cool to about 70 Saturday. .
