Salt Lake Mayor Palmer DePaulis and most of his colleagues on the City Council were expected to leave for Washington, D.C., Friday for a National League of Cities conference and to meet with Utah congressional delegates.

DePaulis and the council will attend the league's Annual Congressional City Conference and attend seminars ranging in topic from honing electoral campaign skills to the role of minority elected officials.The mayor is chairman of the league's Transportation and Communications Steering Committee, which meets Saturday.

Salt Lake's leaders will also be meeting with Utah's congressional delegation to discuss the city's bid for the 1998 Winter Olympics and water levels in the Provo River.
