A trucker described by his family as a gentle man "driven to desperation" by personal problems has been sentenced to four years in prison for a car-ramming rampage that terrorized motorists for 40 miles.

Although a county probation report recommended that Charley Tom Lee be placed on supervised probation, Superior Court Judge Judith Chirlin sentenced him to state prison, saying his actions had instilled fear and terror in drivers.Lee, 26, of Haltom City, Texas, pleaded guilty Nov. 18 to five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He has been jailed since the May 18 incident in which about 30 cars were rammed but no one was injured.
