A U.N. mediator in the stalled peace talks between Iran and Iraq said Friday the two sides cannot agree on the date of the next ministerial meeting to solve conflicts created by a costly eight-year war.

"There have been some difficulties," Swedish Ambassador Jan Eliasson told reporters one day after meeting with an Iraqi delegation to work out details for the fourth round of talks between Iran and Iraq's foreign ministers. The two adversaries agreed in principle to meet with Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar in late March in New York to pursue their comprehensive peace settlement.
