The City Council decided Tuesday night to stay with manual garbage pickup instead of switching to an automated system.
The city had been considering making the change since the council decided to solicit new garbage bids. The city received nine bids, four of which were for manual pickup and the other five for automated-system pickup.Residents currently pay $3.50 per month for pickup. The council did not decide if it will replace Waste Management Inc. as the garbage hauler.
A public meeting was held two weeks ago and the council delayed making a decision whether to switch over. Residents gave mixed reviews at that hearing.
