Rod Romesburg, 20, who suffered spinal cord injuries while swimming at Mazatlan, Mexico, remained in serious condition Thursday in University Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Romesburg, a son of Utah Valley Community College President Kerry Romesburg, was playing in the ocean when he was hit by a strong wave that wrenched his neck, breaking it, said college spokesman Val Peterson.He was airlifted on an international flight to Salt Lake City and then transferred to University Hospital.
