Calvin Gibbs, a certified life underwriter and agent for the Richard R. Anderson Agency, has been named the agent of the year for the Beneficial Life Insurance Co., the second time he has received the honor. Company president Jay B. Horrocks gave Gibbs a plaque and $500 check.

Gibbs worked as an accountant for 10 years before joining Beneficial in 1969. He was named new agent of the year in 1971 and agent of the year in 1987. While at Beneficial he has qualified for the company's million-dollar roundtable designation and qualified for the National Quality Award and the National Sales Achievement Award.The Bountiful resident is a native of Portage, Box Elder County, and attended Weber State College and Brigham Young University where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting. He is president of the Lake-view Association of Life Underwriters.
