A Bennion man remained in the Salt Lake County Jail Tuesday as detectives continued to investigate circumstances that left his father dead and his mother critically injured after an apparent family fight at their home Sunday evening.
Gary Don Beals, 32, was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail for investigation of homicide and attempted homicide charges, a jail booking officer said.His mother, Luwana Beals, 51, 6287 S. Redwood, remained in critical condition at Cottonwood Hospital where she underwent surgery late Sunday night for treatment of a stab wound. Her husband, Arthur Don Beals, 55, died of stab and gunshot wounds suffered during the melee at the family home.
Other area hospitals were still caring Monday for victims of weekend stabbings as well.
Louis Martinez Villalda, 22, stabbed Saturday night near Pioneer Park, was recovering at LDS Hospital Monday. Juan Mireles, 23, a second man stabbed in the same altercation, was discharged from the same hospital Monday while a third stabbing victim from that incident, Alfredo Martinez, 23, was listed in serious condition Monday at University Hospital.
Henry K. Howell, 20, who was found stabbed just after midnight Saturday after a separate altercation at the Annex Bar on State Street, was listed in fair condition Tuesday at Cottonwood Hospital.
