Two Ogden police officers have been honored for their efforts in saving the lives of a woman and her three children trapped by fire.

During an Ogden City Council meeting last week, Robert B. Clements, a 10-year veteran of the city police department, and David W. Stevens, a 14-year city officer, received medals of valor.Police Chief Joe Ritchie said it was the first time medals of valor have been awarded in Ogden. They recognize officers whose actions exemplify great courage, he said.

The officers were commended for their actions in a fire that filled an apartment building with smoke early Feb. 13.
