BYU freshman Christy Opara qualified for the NCAA track and field indoor championships in both the 55-meter dash and long jump at the Potts Invitational in Boulder. While winning the 55-meter event, Opara, 18, from Lagos, Nigeria, cracked the Potts record, set a BYU record and exceeded the NCAA standard with a run of 6.88. In the long jump, she sailed 20-feet-6 to surpass the NCAA mark of 20-13/4.
