Reilly Tar & Chemical Corp. of Indianapolis said Tuesday it has acquired a potash manufacturing operation in Utah.
Reilly said the Kaiser Brine Chemical Co. of Wendover, Utah, will be renamed Reilly Wendover and will become a division of the Indianapolis firm. The operation was acquired for an undisclosed amount from KaiserTech of Oakland, Calif.The production facilities of Reilly Wendover are located at the Bonneville Salt Flats while the divisional headquarters will be in Salt Lake City. The business consists of 81,000 acres of brine collection and drying areas, plus a plant that produces 100,000 tons of potash a year.
It also produces magnesium chloride, which is sold under the "Dus-Top" trademark as a dust supressant for dirt roads, coal piles and other sources of dust.
