Five children died when a bomb resembling a toy exploded in a refugee village on Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, a newspaper reported Tuesday.

The independent English-language newspaper The Nation said a sixth child was seriously injured in Monday's explosion.One of the children spotted an object that looked like a toy, and when they picked it up, the object exploded, the Lahore newspaper said, citing unidentified government officials.

More than 3 million Afghan war refugees live in Pakistan, which has been the target of hundreds of bomb explosions. Most have ripped through crowded bazaars in villages and cities in the Northwest Frontier Province that borders Afghanistan.
