Francis Oscar Boyer, 72, a production assistant for 21 years with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts and well known in the field of sound and electronics, died March 4, 1989, in a Provo nursing home of cancer.
Mr. Boyer was employed at Brigham Young University for 22 years, including work in the sound department, at Bonneville International and for the Corporation of the President, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, from which he retired in 1982.He worked for Bonneville Media Communications and as a production assistant for the Tabernacle Choir broadcasts operated the TelePrompTer for the late Elder Richard L. Evans and for J. Spencer Kinard for the "Music and the Spoken Word" broadcasts.
As a volunteer, Mr. Boyer often recorded lessons and books for the blind.
"Francis was the kindest, most devoted man who has ever been associated with the Tabernacle Choir. He had very little to give except himself, and he gave that very freely throughout his life," Kinard said.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Provo Stake Center, 1315 E. Ninth South. Friends may call at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. Second South, Springville, from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday or at the stake center one hour before services Tuesday. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Springville.
