Temperatures were in the high teens for Monday's race over the dangerous mountain trails of the Alaska Range. Martin Buser was in first place Sunday when he pulled into the Finger Lake checkpoint, 40 miles beyond Skwentna. The 1,168-mile race began Saturday when 49 mushers left Anchorage.
