Sharon Ashcraft will conduct a one-day workshop to teach children animation, sponsored by the Utah Media Arts Center Saturday. It will be held in the Salt Lake Art Center, 20 S. West Temple.

The all-day "Children's Animation Workshop" will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (children should bring a lunch). Tuition is $15 and includes materials for a hands-on class to help children develop an interest in film and video. The focus will be on techniques for creating animated films, with students coloring, drawing and shooting their own short projects.Ashcraft is a local filmmaker with an interest in animation. She has received a Western States Regional Fellowship and was selected Best Independent Artist at the 1988 Utah Short Film and Video Festival. She is working toward a film degree at the University of Utah.
