While the rest of the Big Sky Conference is still jockeying for position in next week's postseason tournament, the Weber State basketball team is in Akron, of all places, tuning up for the tourney with a non-league game.

Not that the 'Cats, 9-7 in the league and 16-9 overall, will be taking the night off. The Zips are 20-7, their fourth 20-win season in a row, and have won seven in a row and 14 of their last 16 games.Akron is led by 5-11 guard Eric "The Cricket" McLaughlin, who is averaging just over 22 points and five assists per contest. He is Akron's all-time assist leader and third all-time leading scorer with more than 1,700 career points.

This is the first meeting between the two teams. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. MST.

After tonight's game, the Wildcats will be planning a trip to Idaho for the league tournament. But exactly where they're going hasn't been decided yet - the host team could be Boise State or Idaho.

What has been decided is that the Wildcats will finish in fifth place in the Big Sky, and will face the fourth-place team in a first-round game on Thursday. That fourth-place team will be either Nevada-Reno or Montana, depending on the outcome of tonight's games.
