A Salt Lake man once charged with sexually assaulting four women was sentenced to a year in jail for his guilty plea to one felony.

Steven Wesley Jones, 35, appeared Monday before 3rd District Judge Kenneth Rigtrup, who suspended a possible 5-year-to-life prison term and placed Jones on probation for three years.

As part of his probation, Jones must undergo a sex offenders treatment program while serving a one-year jail term. During probation he must also abide by strict rules, such as curfew restrictions and abstinence from drugs and alcohol.

Jones was once charged with seven first-degree felonies and one third-degree felony in connection with attacks on four women between April 12, 1987, and July 31.

He pleaded guilty earlier this year to a first-degree felony count of attempted aggravated sexual assault.
