Salt Lake County sheriff's detectives have recovered a handgun believed used to kill a West Valley woman during a video store robbery last month.

Capt. Bob Jack said an anonymous tip over the weekend led to the recovery of a .38-caliber revolver, which was located Monday afternoon in a Salt Lake residence.

The caliber is the same used to shoot Anna Holmes, 31, who was gunned down April during a robbery at Video Voyager, 5448 S. 4220 West.

"It's just a loose end," said Jack, who believes the case against the murder suspect is solid even without the gun. "I'm not nearly as excited about (the gun) as you are."

Charles Kenneth Hodges, 44, a transient, has been charged with capital homicide and aggravated robbery in the incident. A suspected accomplice, Raymond D. Young, 34, Kearns, has been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated robbery and obstructing justice.

Both men face a hearing Tuesday in 3rd Circuit Court.
