Sixth District Judge Donald Tibbs has scheduled an April 5 sentencing for a former Cleveland, Emery County, man convicted on eight counts of theft of livestock from a Hanksville rancher.

Ross Lindsey, Wendover, Nev., could be sentenced to up to 40 years in jail and fined up to $40,000 on his felony conviction. The cattle were sold in March 1987 at the Spanish Fork livestock auction, where brand supervisor Clyde Argyle said two bills of sale Lindsey produced "later turned out to be invalid documents."

Prosecutors contended Lindsey stole the cattle from rancher A.C. Ekker.
