Prime Minister Aneerood Jugnauth has escaped the second assassination attempt in four months, local newspapers reported Saturday.
Police said they arrested a man who tried to attack Jugnauth with a razor Friday night. But they refused to release any details about the attack or the assailant.Authorities said this Indian Ocan island, which boasts one of Africa's few multiparty democracies, was calm.
During a Nov. 6 religious ceremony, a Hindu priest attempted to shoot Jugnauth with a pistol. The priest was disarmed and the prime minister, who also is a Hindu like most Mauritians, was not injured.
