Gary K. Fisher, public affairs manager for Chevron USA's Utah operations, has been promoted to the oil company's federal government relations office in Washington, D.C., where he will follow natural gas and taxation issues, the company said.

President of the Utah Petroleum Association, Fisher represented Chevron before the Utah Legislature and state agencies and was the company's local spokesman since 1985.In addition to his work with Chevron and the local petroleum industry, Fisher served on committees of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Utah Manufacturers Association. He has also been a board member for the Utah Opera, Salt Lake Education Foundation, Utah Council on Economic Education, Junior Achievement of Utah and Utah MESA/MEP.

Before coming to Utah, he was a coordinator of environmental affairs for Chevron in Colorado.

Fisher, 38, graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor's degree in social science and master's degree in political science. He worked in state government and private consulting prior to joining Chevron in 1981.
