The annual Round-Robin State Trap Shoot will begin its three-week run starting this Sunday at trap-shooting clubs around the state.
The shoot is special in that it is set up to introduce new shooters to the sport. Under the round robin format, five-member teams are made up of A, B, C, D and E shooters, with As being experts and Es being shooters competing for the first time. The event will be on March 5, 12 and 19. Cost is $8 to enter, and $8 for each of the three shoots. Last year, 1,600 shooters entered the event. At some clubs, each member of the top team wins a 12-gauge shotgun. Those interested can check in at one of the trap-shooting clubs around the state, or can call Larry Mitchell at 298-7516.
